Watch the harrowing rescue of a person caught in a flooded river

A person has been saved from gushing flood waters within the swollen Los Angeles River in a dramatic rescue.

The man was trapped within the river and held on to a concrete barrier wall as a rescuer from Los Angeles Fire Department was lowered down from a helicopter.

The rescue employee then secured the person to a cable earlier than the pair had been hoisted again as much as the helicopter.

The man, 51, was taken to hospital to be handled for hypothermia.
