South Korea and Japan: A ‘milestone’ assembly of frenemies

This summit presents an opportunity to restore years of damaged belief. So far Seoul has conceded greater than Tokyo. As one senior diplomat put it to me, South Korea has walked throughout the dancefloor, lights on, everybody watching, to ask its neighbour out. Japan has agreed to bounce. But South Korea is anticipating extra.
