France pension protests: Clashes with police in Paris as demonstrations proceed
Thousands of individuals protested for a second night time in central Paris after President Emmanuel Macron determined to drive via modifications to the retirement age and not using a vote in parliament.
Some demonstrators clashed with riot police, who made a number of arrests.
The reform raises France’s state pension age by two years to 64, which Mr Macron argues is important to maintain the French pension system viable. The change is bitterly opposed by unions.
